Department of Education and Training Innovative Learning Prototypes

In 2009 the the Victorian Government’s Department of Education and Training engaged Simon Couchman Architects to work with a special division within the department to develop innovative prototypical learning environments.

  • Many different concepts were explored and ideas applied to a broad range of learning programs and age groups. This work was a valuable and exciting project to be involved with and a great knowledge sharing experience. Program explored included:

    • Flexible classrooms (prep - yr12)

    • kindergarten design

    • outdoor learning spaces

    • Performance spaces

    • sports facilities

    • Libraries and resource centres

    • IT laboratories

    • Art / science / tech laboratories

    • Administrative buildings

    • Dining halls

    • Ecologically Sustainable Design (ESD)
